There Was A
Time
(Rick Torres)
Every night
He sits at home and sometimes
He wonders why
He is alone
He longs to much for the time
When he will no longer die
Inside
A broken heart....
There was a time
He reached inside his soul
And saw a shining light
He really tried,
He reached out for the star
That held the warmth of a love
Oh, how he cried
Those tears of joy
Ohhhhh
(Chorus)
And life seems so much simpler
When the feeling of love is there
As the tender moments are past
The moments of rest are held in peace
In his life
He's had no sense of worth
Just dreams of happiness
Those days are gone
And nights are spent alone
With a love so dear to his heart
No time for tears
Hold on to love
Ohhhhh
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
It's so hard to find a love in this world
All one wants is a kind warm embrace
And I know that when I look in your eyes
I know that it's right
There was a time....

About This Song
This is one of the first songs I wrote back around 1981-82, and
also what I consider to be my most well-written. It originally
was just the verses and choruses, but in the late 80's, when I
was about to record a demo of it, I added the bridge.
Believe it or not, I originally had Frank Sinatra in mind to sing this song when I wrote it! It was once shopped to Melissa Manchester by way of her hairstylist, but nothing ever came of it, which is OK, because I wasn't too thrilled with the idea of her singing it anyway.
